Pasta Making Adventure

Caleb is not a fan of spending 2.5 hours in the kitchen... but when this is the product... I think it is worth it!

Homemade pasta with cilantro-pumpkin pesto and sauteed chicken
I got the pasta roller/cutter attachment for Christmas from my in-laws. I have been dying to try it, but hadn't been able to find any semolina flour. Well.... once I decided to actually look at pasta recipes, I discovered that you don't have to use semolina flour - all purpose works!! So... voila!! It became pasta time!!

We were a little nervous starting out... using a new attachment, our tiny kitchen, and the potential for a HUGE mess. But... we were pleasantly surprised. The new attachment was easy to use. Our tiny kitchen wasn't that big of a problem. And, well, it made a pretty big mess. But, we were able to clean a lot as we went. I can't wait to start experimenting with different pastas!! I guess I really do need to increase my weekly mileage so I can justify some extra carbs...

Here is a picture story of our adventure...

Getting our supplies together
Once the dough was made... we decided you HAD to drink wine while making pasta!
Starting to roll it out.
Starting to get flat!!
All rolled out!! Thank goodness for the drying rack... we never would have had a place to put it all!
Getting it cut! C didn't tell me my hair was a disaster... we will just blame it on the hard work!
All cut and ready to be cooked!!
Happy eating!!

  3. This looks fun and not so hard (other than time consuming)! I've wanted to learn to make pasta because it seems like this mystical process that no one ever does anymore. Glad you're putting all those attachments to good use!

  4. Was the pasta just heavenly!? I have been wanting the pasta attachment forever. Someday we will get around to it and make some fresh pasta.
